Recently independent Athletes´ Commissions have moved into the focus of attention of sport governing bodies. The Athletes` Commission of the IOC has been founded in 1981 already and has developed a reputation since then. A historical analysis of its activities and impact on decision making processes at the governance level of the IOC is a research gap. The project aims to close this gap.
