Abstract
Emotional Intelligence (EI) is acknowledged to play an important role in the way an individual manage one‘s own and others‘ emotions on a daily basis, as well as regarding individual health. Contrary to other forms of intelligence (e.g., intellectual quotient), recent scientific evidence suggests it is possible to train and develop EI. Such training has been realized in different domains, and findings showed that it was possible to improve EI as it is assessed by self-report questionnaires. This improvement was also reflected in several aspects of life (e.g., performance, health) as well as in different biological parameters. The aim of this chapter is twofold: to provide a review of studies having realized an EI training to date, and then to detail in a very extensive fashion an EI training protocol that has been used in sport settings, providing thereby insightful guidelines for readers interested in designing such training. Finally, EI training is discussed in line with implications for performance and health
