DSHS Transfer Focus “Physical Activity Spaces”

Research impact: Impact Recreational and Popular Sports

Description of the Research impact

In cooperation with municipal partners, the German Sport University Cologne facilitates access to healthy exercise by designing social, attractive and contemporary recreational sports spaces. It also contributes to the reduction of barriers to the integration of physically inactive people in organized sport through diverse and inclusive (mass) sports clubs.

The term knowledge and technology transfer is understood as a targeted and structured interaction with cooperation partners and target groups outside of science. The focus is on activities and cooperation of research and teaching with actors from business, educational and recreational institutions, organized sport, municipalities and health care. This is not only about the one-sided communication, utilization and marketing of knowledge and technologies, but in particular about solving socially relevant issues through sport and exercise and meeting challenges in sport and exercise practice in a two-way exchange and joint cooperation.
