Organisation profile

Departments

The Department of Sociology of Sport (Head: Prof. Astrid Schubring) conducts research on current and classical topics of the sociology of sport. Our goal is to provide insight into the world of experience of sport, to critically examine its 'social orders' and to provide knowledge of practical relevance for grassroot and competitive sport as well as for physical education. We collaborate internationally as well as across disciplinary and organizational boundaries. Transfering our research results to society is important to us.
