Research profile

Aim: We aim to understand individuals’ sensorimotor expertise in complex dynamic environments such as sports.

Approach: Following an embodied cognition approach, we test the integrative role of visuo-perceptual and motor processes in representative, experimental settings. The expert-performance approach often motivates the study designs.

Theory: In our research, we test, extend, and specify ideomotor and predictive processing theories, among others.

Transfer: Our work involves different target groups (athletes, coaches, teachers, students), with respective theory-based findings meant to guide practical implications (e.g. anticipation/decision-making/planning skill training) in different performance domains (e.g. sports, arts, school).
