Research profile

The better we can quantify the human physical behaviour, the better we can understand it's relationship with relevant health outcomes.

Within my PhD, I am working on finding new methods to assess the human physical behaviour in free-living conditions which are highly accurate and easy-to-use.

I am using small-scale wearable sensors to measure the acceleration of the thigh. I apply signal processing techniques and machine learning algorithms to the acceleration data to create new data-driven models.

My research aims to create an algorithm to estimate energy expenditure during physical activities from the thigh acceleration data.
