Research profile

The better we can quantify how we humans move, the better we can understand the connection between our movement behaviour and our health.

As part of my PhD, I am working on the question of how we can record human movement behaviour under everyday conditions as simply and accurately as possible.

For my work, I use wearable sensors to measure the acceleration of the thigh. Using machine learning and signal processing methods, I develop algorithms to make the acceleration data usable.

One aim of my research is to develop and test an algorithm that is as accurately as possible for estimating energy expenditure during physical activity.
