Research profile

At the German Sport University Cologne, I explore the fascinating intersection of biomechanics, movement science and innovation. As a researcher at the Institute of Biomechanics and Orthopaedics and the German Research Center for Elite Sport, my work centers on the function of the human foot.

Over the past 15 years, I have also conducted intense scientific research for the German Bobsleigh Luge and Skeleton Federation and the police force of North Rhine-Westphalia, supporting the development of evidence-based strategies for performance enhancement, physical fitness, occupational health, and injury prevention in elite sports and law enforcement.

With a deep passion for translating science into practice, I teach across Bachelor's and Master's programs, mentor future experts, and contribute to the academic community through numerous international publications and conference presentations.

Innovation drives my work: I am the inventor of the "Big Toe PowerPro - formerly Total Toe", a strength-training device designed to target the short foot muscles - bringing attention to the often-neglected foundation of human movement. This invention earned me the “Technologies for Healthy Movement” award, recognizing solutions that blend scientific insight with practical impact.
