Research profile

Since 15 April 2021, Kira Siewert has been conducting research as a doctoral student at the Institute for Dance and Movement Culture at the German Sport University Cologne in the third-party funded project #vortanz: Automated Pre-annotations in Digital University Dance Education. This is a BMBF-funded project that sustainably links machine learning with university dance education. The joint project integrates methods from the fields of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) into the Motion Bank web system. In her dissertation, Kira Siewert focuses on the research field of ‘digitality, movement and learning,’ particularly the possibilities and limitations of AI-based technologies in the context of movement education. In June 2024, she was accepted by the German National Academic Foundation for doctoral funding to complete her dissertation as part of a doctoral scholarship.

In her previous position as a research assistant at the Institute for Sports Science in Hanover, she focused primarily on movement-based mindfulness techniques and dance education issues. Other areas of focus in her research and teaching include mindfulness in sport, movement-based learning and psychomotor skills.
