Since my master’s studies in sports tourism at the German Sport University Cologne, I have been fascinated by the dynamic interplay between climate change and outdoor sports, particularly in Nordic and winter sports. My current research explores how destinations, sport organizations, and individuals adapt to and mitigate the impacts of climate change to build resilient and sustainable sport and tourism systems. I approach this from a climate-resilient development perspective, drawing on concepts such as adaptive capacity, vulnerability, and resilience (e.g., Schmidt & Stensland, 2025).
My research has implications for destinations and sport organizations on how to adapt strategically to climate change, while also contributing to academic debates on climate-resilient development and sustainability transitions.
