Personal research profile

Research profile

PD Dr. Roman Liepelt studies cognitive psychology investigating the cognitive mechanisms of action control in social contexts and complex multitasking environments with a focus on joint action, action perception and embodied cognition. He studied Biology and Psychology at the Johannes Gutenberg University, Mainz (GER). In 2006 he received his Ph.D. in Psychology from the Humboldt University Berlin (GER) where he worked on multitasking and training of executive control functions. As a Postdoc he worked at the Max Planck Institute for Human Cognitive and Brain Sciences, Leipzig (GER) in the Department of Cognitive Neurology and the Department of Psychology investigating the cognitive and neural mechanisms underlying the perception of socially relevant information, action imitation and action coordination across individuals. During this time he also worked as a research fellow at the University College London (ENG). From 2010 - 2016 he headed the Research Group: "Perception and  Action Control" at the University of Muenster (GER) established at the Department of Psychology investigating the cognitive and neural processes involved in task sharing with biological and non-biological agents. Since 2016 he is working as a Senior lecturer at the German Sport University Cologne (GER).
