Stephani Howahl

Research profile

Stephani Howahl works at the Institute for Dance and Movement Culture at the German Sport University Cologne. Her work focuses on teaching dance and physical theater, in particular improvisation, choreography, directing and staging, didactics, professional orientation and empirical dance research. She teaches students on the various bachelor's degree courses in sport, PE-teaching programms for all types of schools and students on the M.A. Dance, Teaching, Research and Artistic Practice. Her dissertation topic is Dance and Education in the Mirror of Emotions. Since the 2000s, she has been researching dance as an object of aesthetic-cultural education in schools and other contexts. Since 2020, she has been involved in research groups at the German Sport University on dance in immersive settings and dance in social media.
