Evaluation of competitive sport at the DAV – analysis and recommendations for sustainability

The research project ‘Evaluation of Competitive Sports at the DAV – Analysis and Recommendations for Sustainability’ examines the ecological, social and organisational dimensions of competitive and elite sports at the German Alpine Club (DAV). It records and analyses the carbon footprint of athletes, coaches and support staff during training and competition and derives concrete reduction approaches from this data. At the same time, an integrated sustainability strategy for DAV competitive sports is being developed in collaboration with relevant stakeholders. In addition, scientific findings on sustainable sporting events are being translated into a practical event strategy for DAV competitions. The results provide a reliable basis for decision-making and prioritised measures for consistently more sustainable competitive sports in the DAV.
