Research objective

Funded by the Federal Ministry for the Environment, the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) has developed a new internet portal in collaboration with the German Sport University (DSHS) Cologne and the Öko-Institut Darmstadt. On the portal, event organizers and interested parties can find information on specific options for planning and hosting sustainable sporting events, use checklists, and research practical examples. The translation of the portal into English is also part of the project.

Research key findings

The internet portal is a further development of the guide “Green Champions for Sport and the Environment. Guide to environmentally friendly major sporting events,” which was funded by the Federal Ministry for the Environment in 2007 and published in collaboration with the DOSB.
