Monitoring Eifel

Project details

Research objective

There are various ways in which national parks can fulfill their legal mandate to be an educational and nature experience site for the population in accordance with nature conservation objectives. On the one hand, this project evaluates the effectiveness of the educational and nature experience offers of the national park administration. In addition to these classic evaluation topics, questions of acceptance of the national park by the local/regional population will be evaluated. Furthermore, a potential analysis is used to determine the possibilities of new sources of income through the establishment of large protected areas.
Another classic tourism science topic is revealed in the questions of who comes to the region, when and why, how long do guests stay and what are they prepared to spend? These questions are explored in addition to the above results. Using triangulative analysis methods, all the results of the study are combined to form an overall economic and social picture of the Eifel National Park ten years after its establishment.
