Nordic centre of the 2021 World Ski Championships in Oberstdorf

In the "Nordic Center Oberstdorf/Allgäu" research laboratory, scientists are working on realistic processes of change. They accompany the development of the Nordic Centre as an impulse for the Nordic World Ski Championships 2021. In this target-oriented and open-ended process, knowledge is generated that will make a difference in practice.
The planned "Nordic Centre Oberstdorf / Allgäu" will be the leading centre for Nordic skiing in Germany, as a home for recreational sport, youngsters' competitive sport, elite sport and tourism.
The market town of Oberstdorf with its own company "Sportstätten Oberstdorf", the Skisport- und Veranstaltungs GmbH, the German Ski Association (DSV), the Bavarian Ski Association (BSV), the Allgäu Ski Association (ASV), the Oberstdorf Ski Club and other local clubs are responsible for the full-year operation and qualitative development - as a competence centre for Nordic skiing in Germany.
The common vision is a Nordic competence and experience centre as an "open sports facility", which can be used by all athletes in winter and summer: for top, junior and popular sports, for tourists and locals, for people of all ages - with and without disabilities.
The "Nordic Centre Oberstdorf / Allgäu" is a training and competition facility as the national base for Nordic skiing of the German Ski Association (DSV). The facility is used all year round by national and regional squad athletes for base training and central training courses. In addition, the centre regularly hosts Nordic competitions - even beyond the 2021 World Championships. Thanks to the excellent infrastructure and the environment with the ski boarding school, internationally successful top athletes develop here.
