Project details
Research objective
The aim of the research project is to (1) investigate the feasibility/safety and (2) the effects of a therapeutic yoga intervention on selected functional-motor and psychosocial parameters as well as on physical activity behavior in children and adolescents after medical cancer therapy and (3) to evaluate possible differences in feasibility and effectiveness of the yoga intervention between children and adolescents after medical cancer therapy and healthy children and adolescents.
Research method
In this monocentric, 2-arm intervention study 10 children and adolescents (5 children and adolescents after cessation of medical cancer therapy (patient group) and 5 healthy peers (comparison group)) take part in a yoga training twice a week for 6 weeks. Before (t0) and after the intervention (t1), functional-motor tests are performed and questionnaires on physical activity behavior, basics of constitution and health-related quality of life are filled out. Furthermore, data on feasibility is collected and at t1 a questionnaire on training satisfaction and perceived training effects (participant- and parent version) is completed.
