Abstract

The expert forum Climate.Snow.Sport agrees in their expectations that the annual mean temperature in mountain areas will increase by a further 2 degrees until the end of the century. As a result of the warming, the natural snow cover that is suitable for snow sports will continue to decline in the long term at medium altitudes. In this context, the meteorological conditions for technical snow production will also change. Uncertainties and fluctuations at the regional level particularly affect precipitation forecasts. All players in the snow sports industry are asked to promote climate protection, in particular the minimization of strong emission drivers and an increase in resource efficiency.
