Abstract

This work concerns itself with the sportpedagogical analysis of teaching knowledge in physical education by using a mixed methods research design.
Introductorily, teaching knowledge in physical education is clarified historically and conceptually. Furthermore, its legitimation strands are illustrated. Based on this, objectives, contents, and methods of knowledge in physical education are firstly appraised in perspective of teaching physical education and secondly used as dimensions of the empirical investigation. The empirical research focuses secondary and comprehensive schools on different levels of the educational system, the macro level (federal curriculum), the meso level (school curriculum; questionnaire), and the micro level (videography of lessons; interviews). Therefore a mixed methods research design is chosen. The results show, that knowledge is barely implemented in everyday physical education. Furthermore, the data reveal approaches to a better use of teaching knowledge in physical education as well as practical recommendations.
