Abstract

The Winter Sports School project introduces, for the first time, a cross-association approach. As part of the campaign Your Winter. Your Sport., the German Ski Association (DSV), the German Association of Ski Instructors (DSLV), and Snowboard Germany (SVD), in collaboration with the Foundation for Safety in Skiing (SIS), have commissioned the Institute for Outdoor Sports and Environmental Research to develop the online portal. The online platform Winter Sports School serves as a catalyst, guide, and resource collection for a cross-seasonal education programme aimed at children and adolescents in school winter sports. The portal targets both teachers and students who wish to engage with integrative teaching materials for winter sports education, and provides organisational assistance for the preparation and execution of winter sports days, including equipment procurement, legal advice, and safety measures.

The overarching aim of the project is to foster enthusiasm for active winter sports, to facilitate the work of educators, and to encourage pupils to participate in snow-based sporting activities over the long term. Thus, the platform seeks to establish a nationwide standard for the inclusion of winter sports in school curricula throughout Germany. It offers thematic, year-round teaching materials related to winter sports across various levels of difficulty for both primary and secondary education (Key Stages 1 and 2). On our online portal, you will find a comprehensive catalogue of exercise collections and teaching programmes, featuring both practical and interdisciplinary content. The responsive design of the portal ensures that these resources can be accessed at any time via a range of mobile devices, such as smartphones, tablets, and PCs, providing a comfortable and user-friendly experience for all users.
