Abstract

The Johannes Gutenberg-University (JGUM) and the University of Applied Sciences (UASM) in Mainz run a cooperative project called “#digitanz” (Dance and Digitality in Arts and Culture Education). The project uses an interdisciplinary approach that applies sports pedagogy (JGUM) to the media science project Motion Bank (UASM). We adapt digital tools from work with professional dancers to the educational process of regular dance lessons in a 13th grade class (comparable to senior high). In an ethnographic process, we observe the lessons both conventionally and enhanced by digital annotation techniques. In the lecture we will discuss what digital ethnography (Pink, et al., 2015) means for an educational research project in a digital-mediated dance class.
