Research profile

Ilka Staub’s research focuses on a sport-specific interdisciplinary approach in aquatics linked to long term athlete development, talent, skill acquisition and educational teaching/coaching concepts. Special interests are on applied concepts of basic aquatic skills/locomotion, swimming strokes (including starts and turns) and drowning prevention. She is a lecturer for swimming and aquatics and as Founding Member and Managing Director of the Swimming Club ‘Kopfsprung Köln e.V.’ (linked to the university) she is able to observe scientific gaps as well as the implementation of new scientific results in the applied field.
