DLR AgeGain

Project: Funded by Third Parties

Research Objective

Physical activity is known to promote neural plasticity and counteract age-related structural and functional brain changes. Therefore, physical activity could play an important modulatory role with regard to age-related declines in cognitive transfer. This subproject will further explore the relationship between physical activity and brain plasticity, and its relevance for cognitive transfer in healthy elderly. The knowledge gained will be of great importance for the design of useful interventions for healthy and active ageing in the future.
