Project details

Research objective

This projects attempts to analyse the twofold aim of the Youth Olympic Games, initiatied by the IOC in 2010, to focus on education and high performance simultaneously through the event. Already in the aftermath of the 2010 and 2012 Youth Olympic Games, researchers of the OSC Cologne had undertaken qualitative interviews with the participation athletes about their perception of the event. The results have been published in peer-reviewed international journals. Within the framework of the 2016 Youth Olympic Games in Lillehammer, more interviews have been conducted and it is aimed to publish the results in 2016 and 2017 respectively.
