As a part of the Global Women in Sports Media Project, the focus of this chapter is on media coverage of the Olympic Games 2004 in two German newspapers. The article is structured into three parts. First the authors present some general data about gender and sport in Germany focusing on the inclusion of men and women into physical activities and sport. The second part is devoted to a summary of the existing media studies of sport in Germany that deal with gendered coverage and reporting. Part three comprises the results of the research on the media coverage of the 2004 Olympic Games related to gender in the sports media. Einleitung (geändert)
